Gladstone Primary School was built in 1906. It is an impressive red brick Edwardian building overlooking Gladstone Road with magnificent views over Barry Docks and the Bristol Channel.

There are approximately 450 children on roll at Gladstone. The school consists of two main buildings, originally the Junior and Infants’ Schools. The Nursery and Foundation Phase children are housed in the smaller building with immediate access to the outside area, while the Key Stage Two classes are situated on the ground and first floor of the main building.

We are lucky at Gladstone to have so much outdoor green space. The large field adjoining the school is used as a sports pitch. We also have a grassed orchard area and a well-established woodland area with a wooden outdoor classroom where our Forest Schools sessions take place. Our Friendship Garden has recently been refurbished - in memory of our much loved ex member of staff Mrs Angela Good -  and is used as a quiet, calm space away from the main playgrounds.

Our Foundation Phase and Year 3 children have free flow access to enclosed outside areas which include role play, creative and construction zones. Extensive playgrounds surround the school with trim trails and markings to stimulate play.
