As a school we will be getting involved in the Walk to School week which starts on Monday 21st May and finishing on Friday 25th May. The schools Eco committee and Junior Road Safety Officers would really like to see more children walking all or part of the way to school this week.
Walking all or part of the journey to school is a great way for children to get fit, healthy and active. Children are meant to participate in sixty minutes of exercise each day, and what better way to contribute to this than by walking to school? It’s fun, easy to do and free.
Of course, we understand that everyone might not be able to walk the whole way, but why not ‘Park and Stride’ – that is, park the car further away from the school gates and walk the last bit of the journey together? For those of you travelling on public transport, you could get off a stop or two earlier.
Let’s get walking!

On Thursday 2nd February 2012 Cardiff Blues player,
Dafydd Hewitt was at Gladstone to present the school with the Healthy Schools National Quality Award.
Gladstone was one of the founder members of the Vale Network of Healthy Schools, joining in 2001.By achieving the National Quality Award, staff and children at Gladstone have demonstrated that they are firmly committed to an approach which develops the whole school as a health promoting workplace. Gladstone is one of only 17 schools in the whole of Wales to achieve this prestigious award.

Children and staff at Gladstone Primary School have every reason to celebrate after recently renewing their Fairtrade status and receiving their 3rd Eco Flag.
