Welcome to Year 4

Summer term

Class Teachers: Mrs Jefferies, Mrs Gullick & Mrs Belby

LSA: Miss Bowen

Below is a brief overview of what we will be learning during the remainder of the Summer term.  This year we have been setting across the Year group for Maths so that children with similar ability are working together. There will still be a Big Maths CLIC/Learn its test every Tuesday morning; children will highlight 3 sums that they should learn for the following week so that they can beat their score.  We will have a spelling lesson every Monday and the children will be tested on the previous weeks spelling pattern.  Please help your children to learn their spellings and Learn its at home.

Year 4 swimming

All pupils in Year 4 will be taking part in a swimming programme this half term. We will be walking to the leisure centre every morning for 3 weeks, from 26th June – 14th July. Children will need to bring bathers and a towel to school every day during this time. Please await further details which will be sent out to you all soon.

Milk and Fruit

Milk and fruit money will be collected on Thursdays so that the correct number can be ordered ready for the following week.  Milk costs £1.40 per week and fruit costs £1.50 for the week. Children are allowed to bring in their own fruit for snack time if you would prefer.  Please ensure it is a piece of fruit and not another snack item such as cereal bars.

It is statutory for the children to participate in P.E lessons and we are hoping to continue outdoor sessions in the autumn term, providing the weather allows.  Children should have in school - shorts, t-shirt, joggers/leggings, a long sleeved jumper and outdoor trainers or daps.

Our P.E sessions are on Tuesday and Friday afternoons.

Pupils who forget their kit will have a reminder letter sent home as without appropriate kit they cannot participate fully in an important part of the curriculum.  If they don’t bring appropriate kit, they will have to wear school kit.

Parents Evening

Parents evenings will be held on June 20th and 21st. Please look out for further information in the newsletter to arrange a time to meet with your child’s class teacher.

G9 Assembly

G9 will be doing a class assembly on the morning of June 22nd. All parents are invited to attend.

Thank you for your continued support,

Team Year 4
